Spaghetti Bolognese

A comforting, classic pasta recipe.

Ingredients

  • 400g spaghetti
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, finely diced
  • 500g beef mince
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 400g canned chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil and grated parmesan, to serve

Method

  1. Cook spaghetti in salted boiling water until al dente.
  2. Heat olive oil, sauté onion, garlic, and carrot for 5 minutes.
  3. Add beef mince and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, chopped tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  5. Simmer uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Drain pasta, toss with sauce, and serve with basil and parmesan.
